Panel Session on Electronic Security Measures

(Open to all)

Theme

Terrorism is more than just physical attacks - it can also take the form of electronic attacks on vital information or communications systems. Both physical and electronic attacks can be carried out, directly or indirectly, by an 'insider', or by someone with specialist knowledge or access. Terrorism also includes threats or hoaxes intended to frighten and intimidate. The web site cpni.gsi.gov.uk provides very useful details on the topic. This panel discussion would focus on these issues and  try to get public opinion (participants of ICSCI-2010) as to how to secure lives and things from unmindful destructive forces. The discussion would start with an introductory lecture on the current situation and pose many a problem associated with security. The discussion would be guided by a moderator to explore the available technical competence in the global level and its credibility to ensure security. Recent events that are taking place in almost all parts of the world have caused already concern and anguish whether the technical kits and systems are really reliable enough that people would live with a sense of security and safety. If not what improvements are required to increase the reliability factor of future systems, be it electronic or manual. This is a sensitive topic and people are advised to be serious and moderate while discussing their points of view but not at the cost of security and commercial policies of the governments of various countries.
